Chief Warrant Officer 5 William (Bill) Allen                          




Chief Warrant Officer Five William L. (Bill) Allen assumed his duties as the 5th State Command Chief Warrant Officer of Alabama on September 26, 2013. As the Command Chief Warrant Officer, he is the personal staff advisor to the Adjutant General on matters pertaining to the management of Warrant Officers in the Alabama Army National Guard.
Chief Warrant Officer Five Allen began his military career in 1983 as an infantry rifleman with Company C 1/504 Airborne Infantry, 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He left active duty as an Infantry Squad Leader in 1987 and joined the Alabama National Guard, 20th Special Forces Group (ABN). In 1988 he attended the Special Forces Qualification course for Special Forces Weapons Sergeant. In1991 he served as a Special Forces Weapon Sergeant during Operation Desert Storm and was promoted to Sergeant First Class. He graduated Special Forces Operations and Intelligence in 1993 before attending Warrant Officer Candidate School at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin where he was commissioned as a Warrant Officer on September 30, 1994. Chief Allen was branch qualified as a 180A Special Forces Warrant Officer in 1995. In 2001, he deployed to Kosovo for Operation Joint Guardian as Assistant Detachment Commander Operational Detachment-Alpha (ODA) 2114. In 2002 he deployed to Afghanistan for Operation Enduring Freedom as Detachment Commander ODA 2112.  
Chief Warrant Officer Five Allen served as a Company Operations Warrant Officer, Battalion Operations Warrant Officer, and Group Special Projects Officer for the 20th Special Forces Group from 2004 to 2011. In 2011 he deployed to Iraq for Operation New Dawn as a Company Operations Warrant Officer for Advance Operations Base 2110. Upon return from Iraq, he transferred to HHC 20th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in Birmingham, Alabama where he served as the Group Operations Warrant Officer until his selection to be the State Command Chief Warrant Officer.
Chief Warrant Officer Five Allen has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from Auburn University, Auburn AL, and completed the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course.
