STRATPLAN 2050

Since 1807, the Alabama National Guard has proudly stood ready to serve in moments of need. From responding to natural disasters at home to answering the call overseas, we serve with unmatched grit and unquestionable honor. As both domestic and international security environments grow more complex and as the demands on our State Military Department continue to increase, we must be deliberate about how we prepare for the future.

This 25-year Strategic Plan charts a clear course for ensuring Alabama's Force remains a national benchmark for reliability, efficiency, adaptability, and success for decades to come.
At the heart of this plan is our people. Our Soldiers, Airmen, Civilians, and Families form the foundation of all we do. The strategy prioritizes recruiting, developing, and retaining top talent, while fostering a culture of readiness, resilience, and leadership. Investing in our people is essential to sustaining a capable and dependable force.

The plan also emphasizes readiness and transformation. We are committed to maintaining forces that are trained, equipped, and prepared to respond rapidly across the full spectrum of missions, while modernizing capabilities and embracing innovation to meet future challenges. Readiness today must always be built with tomorrow in mind.

Finally, this strategy highlights the value of strong partnerships. Collaboration with communities, elected leaders, government agencies, and industry ensures the Alabama State Military Department remains a relevant and indispensable asset. Your continued support empowers us to protect our citizens, strengthen our state, and contribute to our nation's defense.

Thank you for standing with us as we move forward. Together, we are Alabama's Force.
