187th Fighter Wing

This Major Command (MACOM) at Montgomery's Dannelly Field is home to the historic Red Tails legacy dating back to Tuskegee's defiantly heroic World War II fighter pilots. That legacy is now also home to the most advanced multi-role fifth-generation stealth fighter jet in the world, the F-35A Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter, and the 187th is one of the only Air National Guard units with that essential mission. As one of the U.S. Air Force's most reliable combat units over the last several decades, the wing pledges to deliver combat-ready Airmen and aircraft for rapid deployment anytime and anywhere. This MACOM works 24/7/365 to stay ready to scramble at a moments notice in defense of America's people at home or her interests abroad.
