226th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade (MEB)
Headquartered in Mobile's historic Fort Whiting, this Major Command (MACOM) is a powerful dual-purpose multitool. The 226th MEB's famous Task Force Tarpon is the state's strategically positioned and equipped natural disaster response force, fully ready at all times to serve Alabama with high-water search and rescue, communications infrastructure, route clearance, maintenance, construction, strategy, and management. When forward-deployed, the 226th MEB is tasked with enabling and protecting operational and tactical freedom of action during large-scale combat operations through area security, stability, and maneuver support. They are the first call for Alabamians in times of need and for U.S. combat units requiring freedom of movement downrange.
