In cases when the Game Management Office is not open during a scheduled hunt follow the instructions below.
Please follow the established procedures for entering and exiting Pelham Range. 
  • Upon leaving Pelham Range place all “Hunting Permits” in the yellow drop box
  • If you harvest a deer place your completed “Harvest Card” in the
    yellow drop box
  • All jaw bones should be provided to the GMO within 7-days


All hunter safety classes will be held in building #8427 located in the Armed Forces Reserve Center (AFRC) building on Pelham Range.  This building is located directly across the street from the Pelham Range fire station.  Hunters should enter through Gate #3, stop at the Guard Station then proceed to the AFRC located on the right .3 miles past the GMO.  Parking is available in the AFRC parking lot and across the street in the graveled parking area on the left just past the Pelham Range Fire Station.
The Fort McClellan Army National Guard Training Center will be conducting annual Hunters Safety Classes at Pelham Range. Due to COVID-19 restrictions hunters will need to reserve a spot for the hunter safety course. If you have had the class since March 2019 please do not attend. Please check Hunter Safety list to see if you have had the class the past two years.

Licenses must be purchased through pay.gov

Instructions: Once logged onto https://pay.gov, navigate to the Fort McClellan Pay.gov page by entering "Fort McClellan" or "Pelham Range" in the Search Box located on the top left of the web page and select search. Select the Continue to Form link. This link will navigate the user to the license purchase page. Enter the required information in each blank. Select the form of payment and enter an email address to complete the transaction.

Hunting License Fees are as follows:​

Deer   $90​
Turkey   $50​
Upland   $30​
Combination (deer and turkey only)   $120​
Senior License, 65 years or older, Combination includes all game and fishing   $10​​​

Everyone hunting or fishing on Pelham Range must pay a fee regardless of status.

Our nation's symbol since 1782, this Bald Eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) was seen on FM-ARNGTC's Pelham Range on Friday, 5 February, 2021.  Although no longer listed as an Endangered Species, it is still afforded special protection under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. This species takes 4-5 years to mature and develop its white head and tail. Wingspan is up to 7.5 feet. Mainly observed around water eating fish and carrion, Bald Eagles are monogamous meaning they mate for life. Bald eagle nests are generally 4-5 feet wide and 2-4 feet deep, although the nesting pair will add nesting material to the nest every year. Some can reach 10 feet across and weigh a thousand pounds.  This is the 181st documented bird species on the training center, a testament to the high quality habitat available on the range to a wide diversity of avian species.
